Dear Colleagues,
This year is the first time that the traditional Broadband Technologies Conference in Poland will take place in cooperation with the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (www.SCTE.org).
SCTE is a non-profit professional association based in the US that provides technical leadership for the telecommunications industry and serves its members through professional development, standards, certification and information. SCTE currently has nearly 14,000 members from the U.S. and 70 countries worldwide offering a variety of programs and services for the industry’s educational benefit. SCTE has 68 chapters and meeting groups, and more than 3,000 employees of the cable telecommunications industry hold SCTE technical certifications. SCTE is also an ANSI-accredited standards development organization and is active in ITU, IEC, ETSI in bringing cable standards and specifications to international standards. Finally, the SCTE provides training and certification of cable professionals across the cable industry from installation technicians all the way to head-end and data center engineers.
One of the newest chapters of SCTE is the Central Europe Chapter, which has been officially acknowledged by SCTE on November 17th 2011. This chapter will have its second official meeting on May 31st 2012 subsequent to the agenda of the Conference of Broadband Technologies. The location for this meeting will be announced during the conference.
Agenda
- Prospects of future projects of the SCTE in the Central and Eastern European region
- Possible activities in Polish and/or Russian language
- Cooperation with dibkom (German Institute for Broadband Communications – a certification and training institution and SCTE-partner).
- Polish and/or Russian translations of SCTE-resources such as training materials, courses, certifications, and best practice documents for HFC networks
- Quality Organization in MSOs (what does this mean?)

I would be glad to welcome you as a member being or as a new member of SCTE. The member subscription fee is USD $68 (approximately 51.6.– €) per year.. You can become a member during the conference, but are encouraged to join ahead of time in order to access material on the website that may be discussed at the meeting.
By becoming a member you will be a part of our strong community, and you can help promote and represent the interests of the European cable industry. This results in huge synergies which are advantageous to the entire cable industry.
